We are delivering the Raise the Bar Wales programme in partnership with Weightlifting Wales.

Raise the Bar Wales is a Welsh Government funded programme that will offer free 6-week introduction to strength training and youth weightlifting for ages 12-16 years old (including year 7).

The next free six week programme begins on Saturday 26th February and Monday 28th February.

The following benefits are all backed by the research supporting participation of strength training for young people when supervised by professional coaches that can provide a safe and effective training environment.

⬆️😃 Improves confidence and wellbeing, making new friends whilst getting stronger and fitter.

⬆️🦴 Improves bone health, which has been linked to reducing likelihood of bone fractures later in life.

⬆️🏉 Increases resistance to sport related injuries, strength training helps a young athlete’s ability to handle external forces that they may experience whilst playing.

➡️🏋️ Weightlifting is a great alternative to team sports, where young people can train at their own pace under the guidance of a professional coach.

⬆️ Improves health markers, lifting weights is associated with all the health benefits of regular physical activity for young people which helps reduce the risk of some diseases.

⬆️ 💪 Improves strength & power, two key elements that can lead to increased performance in other sports.

⬆️ 😃 Strength training has been shown to improve mental health and self-esteem in adolescents.

⬇️Reduces the risk of obesity, lifting weights is an effective physical activity to form part of a healthy lifestyle for young people.

🏋️Gain a lifelong skill. Learning the technique to lift weights will benefit young people for a lifetime! Strong young people become strong adults.

⬆️ 💪 Improves co-ordination. Body awareness and movement patterns learned through lifting weights helps improve young people’s physical literacy

Sessions are approximately 50 minutes in duration.

Participants may attend both sessions per week or just one session per week, FREE for six weeks!
