Strength Academy Wales Recognised at National Sports Awards

We are proud to share that Strength Academy Wales was nominated by Weightlifting Wales for the Best Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Initiative at the 2025 Welsh Sports Association Sports Industry Awards.

These national awards celebrate organisations that have made a meaningful impact across the sport and leisure sector in Wales. Our nomination, submitted by Weightlifting Wales, recognised the inclusive ethos at the heart of everything we do at SAW—and the many programmes we deliver to support those who are often underrepresented in sport and physical activity.

The nomination highlighted our work as a Weightlifting Wales community academy centre, with specific recognition for:

  • The Parkinson’s Strength Programme, funded by Parkinson’s UK, supporting individuals living with Parkinson’s to improve physical function, confidence, and social connection.
  • The Unpaid Carers Strength and Wellbeing Programme, initially funded by West Wales Care in Partnership and now sustained independently, offering carers a safe, inclusive space to prioritise their own wellbeing.
  • The Warm and Wellbeing Programme, delivered in partnership with local schools and the local authority, supporting children in receipt of free school meals through fun, active sessions focused on physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Our ongoing partnership with Pembrokeshire Leisure, based at the new Pembrokeshire Sports Village, where we work side by side to ensure inclusive and accessible opportunities for our local community.

Although the award itself was presented to another organisation, we were honoured to be recognised alongside such strong examples of inclusive practice across Wales. We are also delighted that Weightlifting Wales won the Governance Award, and proud to have contributed to their wider success story.

This recognition reinforces our belief in the power of inclusive, strength-based programmes to transform lives and strengthen communities.

This activity is supported by the Enhancing Pembrokeshire Fund – a grant designed to offset the impact of second homes and long-term empty properties by supporting projects that strengthen community wellbeing and connection.

Wedi’i Gyfieithu:

Cydnabyddiaeth i Strength Academy Wales yng Ngwobrau Chwaraeon Cenedlaethol

Rydym yn falch iawn o rannu bod Strength Academy Wales wedi’i enwebu gan Weightlifting Wales ar gyfer y categori Menter Cydraddoldeb, Amrywiaeth a Chynhwysiant Orau yng Ngwobrau Diwydiant Chwaraeon Cymdeithas Chwaraeon Cymru 2025.

Mae’r gwobrau cenedlaethol hyn yn dathlu sefydliadau sydd wedi cael effaith wirioneddol ar draws sector chwaraeon a hamdden Cymru. Roedd ein henwebiad, a gyflwynwyd gan Weightlifting Wales, yn cydnabod yr egwyddor gynhwysol sydd wrth wraidd popeth a wnawn yn SAW—ac yn tynnu sylw at y rhaglenni niferus a ddarparwn ar gyfer pobl sydd yn aml wedi’u tangynrychioli mewn chwaraeon a gweithgarwch corfforol.

Roedd yr enwebiad yn rhoi sylw arbennig i’n gwaith fel canolfan academi gymunedol i Weightlifting Wales, gan gynnwys:

  • Rhaglen Cryfder i Bobl sy’n Byw gyda Parkinson’s, a ariennir gan Parkinson’s UK, sy’n cefnogi unigolion i wella eu swyddogaeth gorfforol, hyder, a chysylltiad cymdeithasol.
  • Rhaglen Cryfder a Lles i Ofalwyr Di-dâl, a ddechreuodd gyda chyllid gan Bartneriaeth Gofal Gorllewin Cymru ac sydd bellach yn cael ei chynnal yn annibynnol. Mae’n cynnig lle diogel, cynhwysol i ofalwyr ganolbwyntio ar eu lles eu hunain.
  • Rhaglen Cynhesrwydd a Lles, a ddarperir mewn partneriaeth ag ysgolion lleol a’r awdurdod lleol, gan gefnogi plant sy’n derbyn prydau ysgol am ddim trwy sesiynau hwyliog, egnïol sy’n canolbwyntio ar les corfforol a meddyliol.
  • Ein partneriaeth barhaus gyda Hamdden Sir Benfro, yn seiliedig yn y Pentref Chwaraeon newydd yn Sir Benfro, lle rydym yn cydweithio i sicrhau cyfleoedd cynhwysol ac addas i’r gymuned leol.

Er na ddaethom i’r brig yn y categori, roeddem yn falch iawn o gael ein cydnabod ochr yn ochr â mentrau cynhwysol cryf eraill ar draws Cymru. Rydym hefyd yn falch iawn bod Weightlifting Wales wedi ennill y Wobr Llywodraethu, ac yn falch o fod wedi cyfrannu at eu stori lwyddiannus ehangach.

Mae’r gydnabyddiaeth hon yn atgyfnerthu ein cred yn y grym sydd gan raglenni cryfder cynhwysol i drawsnewid bywydau a chryfhau cymunedau.

Cefnogir y gweithgaredd hwn gan Gronfa Gwella Sir Benfro – grant a gynlluniwyd i wrthbwyso effaith ail gartrefi ac eiddo gwag hirdymor trwy gefnogi prosiectau sy’n cryfhau lles a chysylltiad cymunedol.
