Pembrokeshire weightlifters had an extremely successful weekend at the British Age Groups, Castleford. This event is a two day event inclusive of a range of ages, u15, u17, u20 and u23, clubs from around the UK travel to compete in this annual National championships.

On Saturday Niamh Roach (u20) and Lotty Whalley (u15) competed in the 58kg category. Following a long day of anticipation both Pembrokeshire weightlifters competed at 5pm. Lotty lifted an impressive total of 97kg to gain a silver medal in the u15 category. Niamh went on to lift a total of 112kg to take the gold medal and win the British u20 division.

On Sunday Seren Mitchell (u15) and Anita Madan (u23) competed in the 75kg category. Both lifters competed extremely well and both gained silver medals in their age groups. Seren totalling 108kg and Anita 149kg.

Wales leading technical officials and volunteers Darren Rogers and Stephen Donovan once again played important roles throughout the weekend in the senior officiating roles. Darren and Stephen will be taking their final International officiating exams early next year, which takes them both to the highest International level of qualification.
