Competition info..

Gemau Cymru is an under 20’s multi-sport event held in Wales annually, an excellent opportunity for young lifters to compete in a developmental competition.

Lifters compete in age categories and unlike most other competitions, rather than the winner being the lifter with the best total, the winner is the lifter who scores the highest technical points. This is to encourage a focus on good, safe and efficient technique for Weightlifting. This is important for young developing lifters, and Gemau Cymru is a valued event in the Weightlifting Wales pathway structure.

This year’s competition saw a record number 39 young lifters from across Wales compete in the event. The competition was a huge success, with PB’s and great performances throughout. This competition reflected some of the great work being done in clubs in Wales, supported by some positive comments about the technical ability of the young lifters by our referees.

A huge than you to the Urdd, all the referees and volunteers who traveled and worked tirelessly to ensure the event ran smoothly. Thank you to all the competitors and coaches for being part of this event.

Although Sinclair points are shown in the results, as mentioned, the best lifter was awarded based on the technical points they were scored by the referees throughout the competition.
